Alison Allen
Alison Allen is a senior public sector executive with over 20 years’ experience operating at board and executive level across governance, policy and community-focused service delivery in Northern Ireland. As Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Local Government Association, she provides strategic leadership to the sector and advises boards and elected members on governance, risk, performance and financial stewardship. Her earlier career in Belfast City Council included leading large-scale neighbourhood services, community safety programmes and capital investment, delivering measurable improvements in place-based outcomes.
Alison brings a strong interest in social housing as a cornerstone of sustainable communities, regeneration and inclusive growth, underpinned by a long-standing personal connection to the area served by Grove Community Housing Association. She is particularly motivated by the role housing associations play in delivering not only quality homes but wider social value through community investment and partnership working. Her interest in joining the Grove Community Housing Association Board reflects a close alignment with its regeneration ambitions, “Better Homes” programme and focus on tenant-centred place shaping.
She is recognised for her strengths in governance, audit and risk oversight, alongside a values-led commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Known for independent judgement and constructive challenge, Alison has strengthened board effectiveness, led organisational improvement and delivered collaborative, outcome-focused services.
